- Bring open, honest communications, transparency, and absolute integrity.
- Address issues, including the controversial, so they don’t stagnate and impede delivery.
- Collaborate. Especially important across organizational silos.
- Manage to the level of detail necessary for the project to be successful.
- Err on the side of over-communicating.
- Don’t assume. Confirm.
- Don't just manage. Lead.
Project Delivery approach. To ensure expectations are aligned, and the project is successful Oakman Consulting starts with this approach:
- Identify key players:
- Sponsor / owner / steering committee
- Key stakeholders
- Key subject matter expert
- Determine the needs of each. Define Objectives, Scope, Requirements.
- Create a delivery plan based on input from team members who will be doing the work (so it’s achievable).
- Obtain signoff from the Sponsor, Stakeholders, Steering Committee (so it delivers what’s needed).
- Deliver the plan, with urgency. Prolonging delivery costs more in the end.
